Okay, I think it's time to ask this bloody question. What's the hell is wrong with bitching about words like cunt, faggot or ass?
I mean - it's not like you cast magic bollocks every time you say\write one, or some whore catches fire or you dick fall off.
Usual bullshit is "your kids could see that!" I mean - yeah, what's the big fucking deal?
The only problem with those words is that you are prone to use them instead of every other words, and soon every fucking fuck will use fucking same shit to describe every bloody fucking shit on planet.
That would be unfortunate and of course makes conversation hard. So my take is as long as you got eloquent vocabulary and use words sparingly and creatively (with @paps being the best possible example EVAH) it's allright to use them.
D'oh, people, this is PAGAN SUPERSTITION from the times when people though you can have some "magic" words that you can't use "in vain".
Would like to know your take on this shit.

I have a colorful vocabulary and immensely enjoy using it. But. I'm in the 'sticks and stones hurt, but words don't' camp.
Lots of folks get...upset... about some words. Which is fine (I guess), but also expect others to care when they're upset about words.
I personally try not to mollycoddle people. But there're exceptions to every rule. I don't go to strangers' houses and cuss like a one-eyed carpenter (usually). Especially if they got little kids. If it's a professional environment, I also tone down the F-bombs. Really just depends. Mostly I don't care that much. And people are free to not interact with me if I'm too vulgar for em.
Really held forth more than the usual, so I'll close with one of my favorite sayings passed on to me by a dude I really respect.
Fuck em, if they can't take a joke.

I don't like those words. Ass is okay but I would change it for booty, butt, back-side, tush, or tushie. I don't think words like that should be allowed on this forum (even if its No Rules)- they're very edgy, abrasive, primitive and show a lack of higher thought process. If you want to insult someone you do it by pocking holes in their arguments, examining their psyche or making high quality maymays about them (not by throwing words a 5-year old will use.) Come on people! This place is classy, not trashy!

I feel that US citizens becomes very agitated by this. However it is 100% in our country, where from the beginning of times its meaning was "black person".

How come that you can misuse "its" instead of "it's", and allow yourself words like "maymays", but consider "jerking each other off" to be of "5 year old word"? As I pointed out earlier - I see how repetitive usage of same word can worsen up the conversation. But when it's used as intended - why not?

The majority of people will not find the misuse of its vs it's or "maymays" offensive. It's the internet so nothing should really be taken seriously but this website needs a bit of class to survive and grow. Every edgy gaming-based website I've been too has failed because people are not able to exercise some level of control.

And I see no reason whatsoever. "Other sites doing that" is not a good reason.

Oh, and another point. I was not talking about naming someone with abusive words. It was more like: "While I was brawling at the center beacon at Canyon, my teammates were jerking each other off, so the entire battle went fucked up beyond all recognition". How you can be offended by that?

Some cunt of a teammate camped in a Treb/Gekko Natasha on Dead City.
I see nothing wrong with these words, just something wrong with the people that are offended by them. That said, I understand there are a lot of people that get offended by them. That doesn't make those people right, but that does mean we have to cater to them to a certain extent. Because of that, certain words should be limited to use within the No Rules section. That way we don't have twats and cunts scattered throughout the entirety of our forums.

I have yet to find a successful/large gamin sites that allows its user to swear like sailors (If you know of one, let me know). Also, in the example you provided no one would be offended by that because you're describing an event in which no one is named or directly attacked. Example Not offensive: "I was playing with a bunch of people and they were diddling their noodles" Offensive "I was playing with X person and he was diddling his noodle" In the second example there is direct attack that prompts the named user to respond in a similar fashion leading to nothing more than a flame war. Pretty basic stuff to understand.

I am 100% fine with limiting myself in my communications. ..but (there's always "but", right?) the original question was completely off-topic just out of curiosity question. I am really really puzzled why people think those are "restricted" words. I mean, I like my gay friends, they are totally cool. And I like my black friends. And I have absolutely no problems calling some (technically, it's "every", but oh well) politicians "faggots", or using infamous US "n" word in my day-to-day life. And I really don't like when people say something like: "Fucking fuckity fuck, for fuck's sake!". I think it shows lack of creativity and very narrow vocabulary.

Offense really only happens when you attack some dimension of someone's identity (i.e self, ethnicity, sex, gender, image etc). I think it's okay to be playful with someone as long as you watch your connotation/diction (i.e. you are dumb, you are old, you're creepy) and you've established yourself as the playful type (someone who can take jokes, always saying silly things)
